We recently spoke to Danny Farquhar at F Roofing, who is a long-standing customer of AccuRoof, to understand how he has benefitted over the years from their support.

BACKGROUND
Danny has been working in the waterproofing industry for 35 years, starting on weekends while still at school. He left school at 16 and worked for a company that focused on pitched roofing, where he trained as a tiler and slater. After a few years, he moved to a flat roofing business, working as a labourer and gaining knowledge and experience. By the time he was 21, he had become a supervisor and was managing his own gang.
In those early days, his work took him across Europe, waterproofing railway bridges, tanking car parks, and working on a number of Formula 1 racing tracks, giving him both life and career experience.
When he returned to London, he worked on many prestigious, high-end projects. He was a director of a roofing business that won the Financial Times 2018 Roofing Award for Major Projects for a £3.1 million roofing project. He has also carried out renovation work at the Royal Albert Hall and was involved in the sustainable renovation of LinkedIn UK HQ, The Ray Building in Farringdon, an award-winning project.
Over his career, he has largely worked as a waterproofing contractor, with a period spent training installers for leading roofing product manufacturers. More recently, however, his interest in the development of sustainable living spaces sparked a move into sustainable building specialism. In 2020, Danny became a Director of the Eco-Green Group, a business specialising in green infrastructure projects, where he led a team of more than 60 people. It was here that his relationship with AccuRoof grew.
“AccuRoof has been fundamental in supporting me over the past 10 years. I used to work with Ian Dryden at a product manufacturing business, which is where the relationship began. The team at AccuRoof are technically very good, easy to deal with, and work to become an extension of your own business. In roofing installation, it is critical for contractors to stay ahead of the game, ensure the correct specification of products, and make sure builds comply with all up-to-date regulations. That’s why we need the services AccuRoof offers. It helps us stay compliant with building regulations on a project, especially given the variety of solutions now available.”
Over the years, the world of roofing has evolved. Danny has witnessed these changes and loves that roofs are now being used to create attractive urban spaces. It all started with people requesting hot tubs on their balconies or terraces, and now it is key to have roof gardens, solar solutions, and sustainable systems that not only provide a relaxing space for residents but also help contractors comply with building regulations and attract BREEAM points. These developments in blue and green roofs have required contractors to develop new skills, such as landscaping, as well as seek more support with product specification from companies like AccuRoof.
Danny recalls an early example of a sustainable roof garden her worked on in 2008:
“|I worked on a project for one of the London councils, where we installed a green roof over the waterproofing system. The area had previously been known to have a large number of magpies, so as part of the refurbishment we planted specific seed species to attract insects, bees, and wasps. We were also advised to crush shiny CDs and scatter them across the garden area. Three months later, we visited the site and were delighted to see eight magpies.’
The world of roofing is continually evolving, whether through innovative solutions like Bio-Solar, a non-penetrative solar system that allows greenery to grow beneath it, or through the installation of water tanks that capture water on the roof, with restrictor valves enabling the slow release of stormwater into already overloaded urban drainage systems. It is the constant progress of these revolutionary new solutions that makes it all the more important for companies like AccuRoof to exist, providing unbiased product solutions that comply with the latest legislation.
In early 2026, Danny made his boldest career move so far. He started his own waterproofing contracting business, F Roofing. He is drawing on 35 years of industry experience, along with his knowledge of the best subcontractors to partner with, to provide a best-in-class roofing service. F Roofing offers blue and green roofs as part of its services, but will also take on a variety of commercial, residential, and refurbishment projects, using products from a range of manufacturers. Will they still be using the services of AccuRoof? Danny concludes:
“I am looking forward to continuing my relationship with AccuRoof through my new business. I see AccuRoof as a trusted specifier. They team up with leading manufacturers like IKO and provide a great delivery service too.
I’m re-joining their ARRC scheme, a program that offers exclusive support and where members gain access to unique products, tiered training, technical advice, and new business leads. I have been in the ‘AccuRoof Roofing Contractor Scheme’ with my two previous companies and it is a great way to upskill and therefore gain access to install some leading products in this market.
AccuRoof are part of an impressive business, with SIG Roofing behind them as the UK’s largest roofing merchant, and yet they still offer a really friendly, personal service. I have made many lifelong friends in the roofing industry, and I certainly include the team at AccuRoof in that category.”
