The roof of a building is now much more than just a cover to keep the elements out: consumer demand and government legislation for renewable energy is changing the way roofs are used.

An ‘active’ roof is one that has been designed and built to include one or more renewable energy generating systems into it and most frequently, some form of photovoltaic, solar electric system.

Solar electric roof tiles generate electricity using daylight. The photovoltaic cells do not need to be in direct sunlight and will generate electricity on a cloudy day. They are simple to install and can add significant value to a property. SIG Design & Technology are able to offer a range of photovoltaic solutions.
