AccuRoof is bringing its technical advice clinics on roofing to Manchester. We’ll be hosting the clinic for architects and specifiers with Architecture Today at Malmaison Piccadilly, right in the heart of the city.
Evolving regulations, protecting the environment, reducing our carbon emissions, pushing for innovation and budget constraints means that designing roofing has never been more complex and challenging. AccuRoof’s technical specialists will be here to help you with your specific questions. If there is a nagging issue on one of your projects, we’re here to help!
The session will run from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm followed by a delicious lunch. There will be breakfast goodies available from 9.30 and a refreshment break during the session.

Topics of interest
The morning kicks off with short presentations on key areas of interest to get you started, but pretty soon we’ll dive into the clinic round tables where you can talk one to one with our specialists.
Come to the session and hear from our experts on a wide range of roofing systems and issues:
Roofing Guarantees
Ross Finnie will guide us through the challenging topic of guarantees and warranties. What type of warranties are available? What about insurance? What to manufacturers offer? What should you be aware of?
Practical challenges for metal roofing
Simon Walker, our category manager at SIG Hard Metals (formerly SIG Zinc & Copper) will look at some of the technical aspects of metal roofing and cladding that can get overlooked, including fixing matters, exposure and cross contamination issues and what to look for with warranties for your metal projects.
Fragile Decks and Roof Refurbishment
Maintenance and refurbishment have always been important considerations with flat roofs, but the subject has gained national visibility recently with the revelations about Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC). AccuRoof’s Ian Dryden has extensive experience in refurbishment and has been involved in a range of RAAC mitigation projects since before the story broke. Hear what he has to say about fragile decks and what you should be aware of.
Flat Roof Falls, Drainage and Upstands
AccuRoof Technical Director Dan Bosworth will give us a brief introduction to the matter of getting water off the flat roof efficiently, safely and with an eye to BS 6229:2018. Why do flat roofs get rejected as non-compliant? What does good look like? Dan’s presentation was hugely popular at our last clinic, and he’ll be sharing it with you in Manchester.
Best Practice for Natural Slate
Rounding off our bite sized presentations will be double act Aled Williams & Chris Biddick to look at natural slate, why it is essential that you ensure traceability of this product, options for fixings and more. You may have heard about Aled from our recent trip with Architecture Today to the slate mines and quarries in Northern Spain.
A range of specification managers who cover the North and Northwest will also be on attendance to help you with your project specific concerns during the round tables.
Flat Roofing Specifier Checklist
During our roofing clinics we will be sharing and using our flat roofing checklist too. This tool enables specifiers to identify their key client priorities and prepares you for the best technical support. You can learn about it and download a copy here.
We look forward to seeing you on 12th June.
