Paving Slab Supports for Flat Roofs

AccuRoof has partnered with Wallbarn to provide a comprehensive range of pedestals and support pads for suspended paving and decking systems on structural decks. Wallbarn offers the largest range of pedestals in the UK.

Products include fixed height support pads and extra high adjustable pedestals with specialised designs and variations to accommodate the different types of roof and podium deck.

Benefits of suspended paving for flat roofs and podium decks

Pedestals and support pads are used for constructing hard landscaping areas on terraces, balconies, ballasted flat roofs and podium decks.

They allow the creation of pedestrian surfaces without wet trades.
They improve drainage by lifting the slab or decking off the waterproofed surface.
No mechanical fixings are required, and the membrane is not compromised.
The open joint design means surface ponding does not occur, reducing slip hazards.

Types of suspended paving support

Three main types of suspended paving support are available.

Fixed height pads are designed for restricted height thresholds. They protect the waterproofing surface beneath and are ideal for low height thresholds. Pads are available in plastic, PVC or natural rubber compound, and shims, slope correctors and other accessories are available.

Adjustable pedestals adjust height telescopically to achieve a flat upper surface. They can be used for paving slabs and timber decking and are constructed from virgin fibre polypropylene.

When there are significant slopes to correct, self-levelling pedestals can be specified. This type of pedestal is also useful to accommodate blemishes or ridges in the subdeck, or differences in slab thickness.
