The AccuRoof team hosted a special launch party last week at the Double Standard, a 70’s styled boutique bar in London St Pancras, with special guest Charlie Luxton.

Amongst the branded cocktails and delicious canapés, it wasn’t just a party though. It was an opportunity for over 100 invited guests to find out what we stand for, to hear more about AccuRoof’s unique system agnostic service, to celebrate our achievements so far, and our future plans.
Charlie Luxton set the tone with his provocative and inspiring talk on climate change, decarbonisation, circularity and retrofit. Climate change is a particular challenge for the built environment. The operation of buildings alone creates 23% of UK emissions[i] and the construction industry generates 62% of the UK’s waste and 32% of all waste sent to landfill[ii]. To meet the challenge of a low carbon, low waste future, we need to look strategically at the life of our buildings.
Charlie left us with a manifesto of six points:
- The most sustainable building is the one that exists.
- We need to refurbish the existing building stock intelligently and systematically.
- We need to design for long life and flexibility.
- We need to build for disassembly.
- We need to build with less waste.
- We need to remember where we put stuff.
Emissions breakdown over a building’s life cycle[iii]
Whilst it may seem surprising that a materials supplier would showcase these topics, none of these arguments are up for debate. We’re here to help architects to understand what is possible with our transparent approach and to push the envelope by combining our expertise with their design flair, so that between us we can rise to these challenges. As a leader in the construction industry, AccuRoof is not afraid to grasp the major challenges of our age, be it sustainability, retrofit, building safety or compliance.
Good architectural design is at the core of this process, but it needs support from the supply chain. Our market research has told us that architects need trusted specialists that:
- are product and system agnostic,
- can help meet compliance with regulations and codes,
- will meet both your aesthetic and pragmatic requirements, and
- will be there to support you from before the brief right through to buildings in use.
AccuRoof enables architects to design and specify their roofing projects with greater clarity and confidence and with an informed view of the current and future state of the industry. We are uniquely able to do this as part of SIG Roofing, the UK’s largest specialist supplier of roofing materials.
We’ve restructured our teams to better provide the services architects need, with specialists in existing buildings as well as new build.
We focus on building for longevity, advising on solutions that will meet a life cycle costing approach, providing clarity on maintenance from the start and delivering reliable warrantees.
